Did you know students can share their screen to your Promethean Board?

Do you know your students have the ability to share their computer screens to your class smartboard? While screen sharing can be a great tool for giving presentations or sharing work, it can also be a powerful tool for creativity and collaboration. By incorporating screen sharing into their assignments, teachers can encourage students to think critically, engage with their peers, and explore different subjects in a more interactive way.  In this post, we'll explore some ways students can creatively use screen sharing in your classrooms. But first, let’s make sure your students have the capability to screen share.

Extension Install

Your students' computers should have the Promethean Screen share extension already installed. They can find it by accessing the puzzle piece in the upper right corner of the tool bar. They can pin it to their toolbar by clicking the ‘pin’ button.

If your students don’t have the Promethean Screen Share extension, it is an easy add from the Chrome Extension store. Have them do a Google search to find and add that extension.

Then from your smart boards home screen, select the Promethean Screen share icon to display the panel ID (this is unique to each board and regenerates). From the students computer, they would then click on the extension, enter the panel ID and their name and choose to ‘Enter Waiting Room.’ From the smart board, allow entrance and sharing. Easy as that!

Here are some creative ways to have your students utilize this technology

Mathematics

Students can work together on a group project to create a video presentation that explains the concept of probability, using graphs and tables to illustrate their findings. They can share their screens to the smartboard and present their project to the class.

Students can use an online graphing calculator and screenshare to create dynamic visualizations of equations or functions, allowing their classmates to see the steps and process of solving mathematical problems.

English Language Arts

Students can create a collaborative writing project, sharing their individual screens and typing their ideas on a shared document. As they work together, they can see how their ideas complement each other, and adjust their work accordingly.

Students can use screen sharing to lead a discussion of a text, using the smartboard to display quotes or passages and annotating them as they go. This allows for a more engaging and interactive discussion.

Science

Students can use screen sharing to create a digital lab report, incorporating videos and images to enhance their findings. They can use the smartboard to display their report to the class and explain their methods and conclusions.

Students can use screen sharing to sharing lab reports, scientific articles, or research papers that explain their experiments, observations, or hypotheses.

Social Studies

Students can use screen sharing to create a collaborative timeline of historical events. They can use the smartboard to display their timeline and explain the significance of each event.

Students can use screen sharing to create a map that displays the different regions of the world, highlighting cultural differences and similarities. They can use the smartboard to display their map and lead a discussion about the importance of understanding different cultures.

Screen sharing can be an effective tool for creativity and collaboration in the classroom, allowing students to work together and share their ideas in real-time. By incorporating screen sharing into their assignments, teachers can encourage students to think critically, engage with their peers, and explore different subjects in a more interactive way.
