Turnitin is a popular plagiarism checker that helps educators to detect instances of plagiarism in student work. Used in conjunction with Schoology, Turnitin is a powerful tool for preventing plagiarism and promoting academic integrity. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how to use Turnitin with Schoology.

Step 1: Create the Assignment
  1. Go to Schoology
  2. Navigate to the course in which you want to create a Turnitin Assignment
  3. Click on the “Materials” tab

  7. Hit “Submit”
  8. Click on the assignment, add the due date, and adjust any other settings.

Step 2: Students Submit Their Work
Now that you have created your assignment, your students will submit their assignments by doing the following:
  1. Create a google doc
  2. Type the essay in the google doc
  3. Click the Turnitin Link in Schoology
  4. Click the upload button (up arrow)
  5. Press “confirm”
  6. Click “cloud submission”
  7. Find the document in Google Drive
  8. Upload the file
Step 3: Grade the Assignment
Once your students have submitted their assignments, you can grade and review them using the Turnitin integration in Schoology. Here’s how:
  1. Navigate to the Turnitin assignment you created earlier.
  2. Click on the “Submissions” tab.
  3. Click on a student’s name to view their submission
  4. Review the originality report provided by Turnitin to check for instances of plagiarism.
  5. Leave feedback for the student in the comment box provided.
Once both you and your students become accustomed to creating and submitting assignments in Turnitin, the process is pretty simple. I appreciate the ease with which Turnitin allows me to check for plagiarism in my student’s work.
